8 Most Common Steam Clean Questions (FAQ)

Steam cleaners are rapidly rising in demand. Thus more questions are occurring. Throughout the years of working with steam cleaners and customer service, we have received many questions and so the following questions are the most common questions we have been asked.

1.  What is a steam cleaner?

A steam cleaner may look like a vacuum – it is not. It is not the conventional cleaner nor is it a pressure washer. It is a new type of commercial appliance that uses only a little water and a little electricity to sanitize, clean, and deodorise virtually any surface – without using chemicals.

2. How does it work?

Using less than a gallon of top water, this multi-purpose appliance creates a low moisture steam vapour that carries heat to the surface you wish to clean. The heat combined with light agitation does the work for you.

This appliance comes with a variety of accessories creating a system that can be used on an unlimited number of applications. The system can be used on virtually any surface. The process eliminates chemical residues while sanitising the surface being treated. Because so little water is consumed, less than 3 Itrs per hour, it’s virtually mess free. Our steam cleaners are quiet and portable, allowing for use anytime and anywhere.

3. What is superheated steam?

This describes steam that is hotter than the normal boiling point of water. It’s very different from the stuff that comes out of your kettle spout. The vapour contains only 5% to 6% water and is much less dense than the air we breathe.

It is unlike anything you have used before.

It is mess free with temperatures hot enough to kill bacteria and germs, emulsify grease and oil as well as other surface contaminates.

4. What can I use it on?

Superheated steam can be used on virtually any surface with the exception of some velour fabrics and some emulsion paints. It can be used regularly on all other surfaces and causes no degradation as with detergent and disinfectant.

5. Will it burn me?

No, superheated steam is in fact a gas and when allowed to expand, i.e. Shooting it out of a cleaning nozzle, it will rapidly cool down making any super steam more than a couple of inches from the end of the nozzle totally harmless. Most of the cleaning accessories trap the steam making it very effective when it hits the surface to be cleaned.

6. What are the advantages of having a steam cleaner with vacuum?

Having a vacuum attached such as without SC2000 and SC3000 enables you to clean surfaces such as walls, floors, stainless cladding and plastic cladding and leave them clean and perfectly dry. On these types of surfaces a none vacuumated steam cleaner will bust the dirt and just tend to push it around on the surface.

7. Will Steam Clean Systems steam cleaners deal with bacteria and viruses?

Yes, all of our steam cleaners will kill bacteria and viruses if used properly on any type of surface. Superheated steam will get into the nooks and crannies where conventional sanitizing could fail to reach.

8. Are Steam Clean Systems steam cleaners easy to use?

Yes, with our machines it is just a case of filling the water bottle, turning on the machine waiting for the green light to come on and away you go. Full training is offered with each machine.
